Each year since 2007, the Smith Mountain Branch of AAUW has awarded scholarships to assist local women continuing their post-secondary education. Unlike most scholarships awarded to high school graduates beginning their college experience, ours are awarded to women of any age with at least one semester’s studies beyond high school.
In 2025, we awarded 4 scholarships of $5000 each and a special memorial scholarship of $6000 for STEM majors! These scholarships were for women in college who resided in Bedford, Franklin or Pittsylvania County.
